EMS Placements at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]
Our placements are a minimum of two weeks and during that time, you'll get to experience many aspects of the commercial poultry sector, as well as the game bird industry (this is time of year dependent). Our aim is to give you the opportunity to see and get involved with the clinical and non-clinical work that a poultry vet is typically responsible for – fully supported by our team.
What to expect
- Client visits
- Microscope work
- Flock health planning
- Post-mortems
Specific areas that you may get involved with include gut health, health monitoring and disease investigation, epidemiology, water hygiene, biosecurity, vaccines, parasite control, general husbandry and nutrition amongst others. However, before you arrive you will be sent an itinerary.

We offer placements at the following practice bases:
- Exeter (currently limited to two placements a year)
- Leominster
- Newark
- Northleach
- Northern Ireland
- Yorkshire
As part of the application process, you'll be able to specify any preference(s). We'll do our best to accommodate these however this isn't guaranteed.

We work with a large proportion of the UK and Ireland's broiler industry – including large integrators – and have responsibility for the majority of layers across the UK.
