Trainee HGV Mechanic

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a Trainee HGV Mechanic to join their team in Leeds. This permanent role offers £17.00 per hour on a 4 on/4 off shift pattern (6:30am – 7:00pm). Ideal for Light Vehicle Technicians transitioning to heavy vehicle maintenance.

What You'll Be Doing

Assisting with inspections, servicing and repairs on HGVs
Learning to diagnose faults using modern diagnostic tools
Supporting planned preventative maintenance and safety checks
Helping respond to vehicle breakdowns
Recording work using vehicle maintenance software
Ensuring vehicles meet legal standards
Maintaining a clean, safe workshop environment
Working closely with experienced HGV Technicians

What We're Looking For

Experience as a Light Vehicle Technician, Mechanic, Plant Fitter or similar
Basic understanding of vehicle systems and fault finding
Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
Good communication and teamwork skills
Practical, hands-on approach to problem solving
Commitment to working safely
Own tools preferred
