SEND Teaching Assistant

Job Description

We are looking for a patient, caring and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with additional needs in Year 4 at a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Keighley. You will work closely with the child to support emotional regulation, routine, and focused learning, implementing consistent strategies to help them access the curriculum and develop positive relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support during lessons, transitions, and unstructured times
• Use tailored strategies to promote engagement, confidence, and emotional wellbeing
• Support the child in understanding and following routines and expectations
• Adapt learning resources and activities to meet the child’s individual needs
• Contribute to review meetings and help track the child’s progress

Ideal Candidate

• Experience working with children with additional needs in a school or similar setting
• A calm, consistent, and nurturing approach to behaviour and communication
• Ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff
• A team player who can also work independently using initiative
• Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) are desirable but not essential
