Job Description

My client is seeking an experienced Metrology Inspector to join their Quality & Mission Success team, supporting a variety of special projects and production programmes across advanced defence systems. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys working with cutting-edge metrology equipment, collaborating closely with engineering teams, and contributing to both R&D and deliverable programmes in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Create, edit, and run CMM programs for high-volume and one-off parts
  • Perform dimensional inspection using manual metrology equipment (verniers, micrometers, etc.)
  • Develop measurement solutions using CMMs, articulated arms, and laser trackers
  • Interpret engineering drawings and 3D models, applying GD&T principles
  • Produce inspection reports and manage non-conforming products
  • Support investigations, FAIs, SPC, and control plans
  • Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve quality issues

What We're Looking For

Essential skills & experience

  • Proven experience programming, editing, and running CMMs
  • Strong GD&T knowledge and ability to interpret engineering drawings
  • High attention to detail with excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to follow SOPs accurately and troubleshoot minor issues
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Desirable

  • Experience with PC-DMIS and/or PolyWorks Inspector
  • Exposure to SAP or similar systems
  • Comfortable working with multiple metrology technologies
  • Continuous improvement mindset and logical problem-solving approach
