Head of Commercial
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Services is seeking an experienced Head of Commercial to join a leading organisation on a contract basis, providing strategic commercial leadership across a diverse portfolio of projects and services.
- Location: Glasgow
- Start Date: ASAP
- Contract Duration: 9-12 Months+
- Pay Rate: £93 per hour (Inside IR35)
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Role Overview
As Head of Commercial, you will lead all commercial activities across the business, ensuring contracts are negotiated, executed, and managed in line with organisational objectives. You will play a pivotal role in protecting margin, managing risk, and aligning commercial outcomes with the wider business strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Leadership & Strategy
- Lead contract negotiation and execution across project-based and resource-based engagements
- Develop and implement commercial strategies to achieve target margins
- Adapt commercial approach in line with pipeline and business needs
- Ensure effective supply chain engagement and alignment with delivery objectives
Contract & Supply Chain Management
- Monitor performance of supply chain partners and take corrective action where required
- Support project teams with pricing and commercial input
- Act as final reviewer for commercial submissions prior to governance approvals
Governance & Processes
- Oversee all commercial governance and approval processes
- Develop and enhance commercial tools, frameworks, and best practices
- Work with senior leadership to define KPIs and risk/incentive structures
Financial Management
- Collaborate with Finance on monthly P&L reporting
- Provide recommendations to optimise profitability
- Act as escalation point for commercial issues across projects
Contract Compliance
- Ensure all variations and compensation events are formally instructed and agreed
- Maintain full compliance with contractual terms and processes
Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage with senior client stakeholders and commercial counterparts
- Chair internal and external commercial meetings to drive timely decision-making
About You
- Proven experience in a senior commercial leadership role
- Strong background in contract negotiation, governance, and financial performance management
- Experience managing complex supply chains and stakeholder relationships
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on where required
