The position involves installing and maintaining GPS Machine Control and HFR safety systems on construction plant equipment. Full training provided. Locations: Birmingham, Glasgow, Warrington, Wembley.

Job Purpose

The Plant Fitter will be responsible for servicing, maintenance, and calibration of digital systems on construction plant equipment, including GPS Machine Control and Human Form Recognition (HFR) safety technology. This is a depot-based role within the company's workshop facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and configure GPS Machine Control systems on construction plant machinery including excavators, dozers, and graders.
  • Install and commission Human Form Recognition (HFR) safety systems.
  • Carry out sensor installation, GPS antenna mounting, wiring, and system configuration.
  • Perform routine servicing, testing, and maintenance of machine control and HFR systems.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, and mechanical faults.
  • Calibrate sensors and system parameters.
  • Upload machine control data including DTM files and digital terrain models.
  • Work alongside workshop engineers to prepare machinery.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience with construction plant, agricultural machinery, or heavy equipment.
  • Background as mechanical technician or workshop engineer desirable.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical installations.
  • Comfortable with computers and electronic equipment.
  • Full UK driving licence desirable.
