Role Overview

To lead & manage the Garment Development process within the menswear team to ensure quality & fit are to [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] standards. Manage & develop technically correct, commercial products from sketch through to shipment sample, that represents the vision of the Design team, meets [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] quality/fit and in line with the range plan and critical path. Manage the fit process, ensuring consistently fitted product across all areas. To lead seasonal returns meeting with Design, Buying & merchandising to understand any issues, ensuring all teams are aligned and any learnings applied to future seasons. Role in Detail

  • Lead & manage the Menswear category in a thoughtful and collaborative manner to ensure highly motivated and engaged team.
  • Attend seasonal Sketch, Proto & Line Freeze meetings, reporting on Fabric suitability, Size offering, margin and supplier issues, offering solutions where applicable.
  • Create & maintain technical workbooks, to include garment specification sheets, detailed construction & fit notes, and communicating clearly to suppliers, from sketch through to store.
  • Run the weekly fittings, working with design team, ensuring company priorities are addressed and fittings are completed in line with critical dates.
  • Working closely with the supply base to understand their strengths and capabilities, maintaining good & effective working relationships, problem solving any construction or fit problems effectively.
  • Supporting the suppliers and internal teams during the development process, training where necessary and communicating promptly to ensure critical dates are achieved.
  • Responsible for updating the PLM system and tracking information to ensure clear transparency throughout the business.
  • Working closely with the Design & Merchandising team, to ensure the pricing architecture & target margins are met, in line with range plan and company budgets.
  • Working closely with supply base for cost negotiations to ensure company targets are met, carrying out cross costings where necessary.
  • Working closely with the fabric team to ensure fabrics are cost effective, perform well and are fit for the garment. Working collaboratively to assess fabric performance through testing and wearer trialling. Responsible for garment wash care and process traceability.
  • Lead seasonal returns & sizing meetings with Design, Buying & Merchandising to understand any issues, ensuring all teams are aligned and any action points are noted and communicated throughout the business.
  • Support the sourcing of new suppliers when gaps/risks identified, ensuring they are to [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] quality & ethical standards. Ensuring audits are in line with [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Code of Conduct.
  • Plan monthly store visits for both you and the team, maintaining a customer-focussed approach in understanding of fit and quality.
  • Support quality control team in additional information relating to any customer feedback, applying any lessons learnt from faulty product to future collections.
  • Travel to supply base when required.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in menswear RTW industry
  • In-depth understanding of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], its product & design aesthetic and position in the market.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of the development process and garment construction.
  • Strong critical path management skills
  • An understanding of costings and margin
  • Highly organised and self-motivated with clear & concise communication skills
  • Professional, with a collaborative nature and positive & flexible attitude
  • Confident but embraces feedback

Desirable

  • Keen interest in sustainability
  • Knowledge of WFX or similar PLM system
  • A keen interest in arts and culture.
