Product Developer

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a part-time Product Developer to manage UK suppliers across upholstery, sofas, lampshades, and fabrics. The role involves supplier relationship management, quality control, product development, and sustainability oversight, reporting to the Supply Chain Manager. Requires proven experience in interiors product development and a strong aesthetic sensibility.

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced and hands-on Product Developer to join our team on a part-time basis (3 days per week). Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager (based in Portugal), you’ll manage the UK supply base across upholstery, sofas, lampshades, and fabrics, taking ownership of supplier relationships, quality control, and lead times.

Responsibilities

  • Supplier Management and Ownership: Act as main point of contact for UK suppliers, visit regularly, ensure quality and aesthetic standards.
  • Quality Control and Lead Times: Own quality standards, resolve issues, ensure production stays on track.
  • Product Development: Lead development across upholstery, sofas, lampshades, and fabrics from concept to approval.
  • Sustainability and Responsible Sourcing: Champion responsible making, support supplier assessments.
  • Critical Path and Coordination: Manage timelines, work with ops and customer services, maintain communication with Supply Chain Manager.

Skills and Attributes

  • Passion for interior design and design-led brands.
  • Ability to champion brand integrity.
  • Highly organised and proactive.
  • Confident communicator, comfortable with remote work.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK.

Experience Required

  • Proven experience in product development, ideally interiors, furniture, lighting, or textiles.
  • Strong understanding of quality control and manufacturing for upholstered goods.
  • Experience managing UK suppliers and lead times.
  • Familiarity with responsible sourcing.
