Description
As a Training Manager you will be responsible for leading, delivering, and continuously improving the driver training programme within a fast-paced operation, ensuring drivers are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and competence required to perform safely and effectively.
Shift: Monday - Friday (Weekend Availability Required)
Salary: £45,000 Per Annum (Depending on Experience)
Your main focus will be on maintaining high standards of compliance, safety, and performance while supporting ongoing driver development, working closely with Transport and Recruitment teams to promote operational excellence and continuous improvement. Your overall responsibilities will include:
Driver Training & Development
- Oversee and manage the full driver training lifecycle, including onboarding and ongoing development
- Conduct and complete driver probation reviews throughout the initial 3-month period
- Deliver practical induction training covering company procedures, compliance, and safety standards
- Provide training on tachograph rules and manage infringement awareness and reduction
- Continuously improve training programmes through innovation and data-driven insights
- Lead, support, and develop a team of trainers and drivers
Operation Support & Collaboration
- Plan and coordinate driver rotas in collaboration with the transport team
- Work closely with Recruitment and Transport Management to support hiring and onboarding of new drivers
- Assist with investigations and disciplinary processes where required
Compliance, Safety & Performance
- Track, analyse, and report on training performance, feedback, and compliance metrics
- Drive initiatives to reduce accidents and improve overall safety and operational performance
- Ensure compliance, safety, and performance standards are consistently met
Requirements
We are looking for someone who has:
- Proven experience in a Training Manager or similar role within transport, logistics, or food supply environments
- Valid HGV licence with CPC qualification (essential)
- Strong knowledge of tachograph regulations and compliance requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Experience using data and reporting tools such as Power BI and Canva is desirable
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver engaging training sessions
- High level of professionalism and confidence in managing teams and stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on compliance and continuous improvement
