Description

We are seeking a caring, organised, and proactive Assistant Manager to support the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in the day-to-day running of our children’s care home. You’ll play a key role in maintaining a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for young people, while helping to guide and motivate the staff team.

This role is ideal for a Senior Support Worker looking to progress into management and develop leadership experience in a supportive, forward-thinking home.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered and Deputy Manager with daily operations and shift leadership.
  • Assist with staff supervision, training, and mentoring.
  • Help ensure compliance with Ofsted standards and internal policies.
  • Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and incident reporting.
  • Promote safeguarding and emotional wellbeing for every child.
  • Act as a positive role model, maintaining high standards of professionalism and empathy.
  • Support with administrative tasks such as rota planning, record keeping, and household management.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – essential.
  • Willingness to work towards Level 4 or 5 in Leadership and Management.
  • Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in a children’s residential setting.
  • Sound understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management, and child development.
  • Enhanced DBS check required.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
