Childrens Home Support Worker

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Services is seeking a Children's Home Support Worker in Welwyn Garden City. This role involves supporting children with learning disabilities, autism, and challenging behaviour in a residential setting.

About the Role

As a Children's Home Support Worker, you will support children and young people with Learning Disabilities, Autism, and challenging behaviour in a residential setting in Welwyn Garden City. Working 12-hour shifts, you'll provide consistent, person-centred care on a 1:1 basis and as part of a team, helping to promote independence, emotional wellbeing, and daily living skills. You'll play a key role in creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment, supporting young people with their routines, activities, and development while following care plans and behaviour support strategies.

Duties

  • Provide consistent, high-quality care and support to children and young people with LD and Autism
  • Support young people who may present with challenging behaviour, using positive behaviour support approaches
  • Work 1:1 and as part of a team during 12-hour shifts
  • Promote independence, emotional wellbeing and daily living skills
  • Build trusted, professional relationships with young people
  • Support with education, activities, appointments and community access
  • Follow care plans, risk assessments and behaviour management strategies
  • Maintain accurate daily records and reports
  • Ensure a safe, structured and nurturing environment in line with Ofsted requirements

  • Experience supporting children or young people with LD, Autism and/or challenging behaviour
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including nights and weekends
  • Calm, patient and resilient approach
