Laboratory Technician

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to support the day-to-day operations of our laboratory. This full-time, on-site role involves preparation of materials, maintaining cleanliness, supporting testing processes, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards in Paignton, England. Salary: Competitive.

Role Responsibilities

  • Preparing laboratory materials, reagents, and microbiological culture media as required.
  • Cleaning, sanitising, and maintaining laboratory equipment and consumables to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Supporting laboratory staff with routine testing and general laboratory tasks.
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping within the laboratory.
  • Managing stock levels of laboratory consumables and notifying senior staff when reordering is required.
  • Accurately recording laboratory activities in line with company procedures.
  • Assisting in the implementation and maintenance of Quality Management Systems.
  • Working in accordance with ISO 17025 standards and internal laboratory procedures.
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Supporting continuous improvement of laboratory processes and efficiency where appropriate.

Health & Safety

  • Promoting a culture of safety awareness and adherence to safe systems of work.
  • Following all laboratory health and safety protocols and reporting any risks or incidents.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Previous laboratory experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and work efficiently, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Basic IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work.
