Job Description
The Country Director GB is the senior executive responsible for the performance of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] within the GB market. This role is accountable for the P&L performance in GB, shapes the long-term growth agenda, and provides strategic leadership and support across commercial, operational, regulatory, and people functions. They will set the vision for market expansion, drive strategic partnerships with global MedTech manufacturers, lead national go-to-market execution, and ensure the GB business operates with excellence, compliance, and financial discipline. This position requires a seasoned MedTech leader capable of influencing at executive and board level, with a deep understanding of the GB healthcare landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic & Commercial Leadership: Set and execute the GB strategic plan aligned to Division and Group priorities, ensuring sustainable double-digit revenue and profit growth. P&L ownership, forecasting, and performance accountability for the GB business. Drive portfolio diversification, market expansion, and high-value strategic initiatives across public and private healthcare sectors. Provide strategic leadership to all commercial verticals including sales, marketing, tendering, technical service, clinical teams, and customer operations. Lead long-term commercial planning including market access strategy, pricing architecture, customer segmentation, and competitive positioning.
- Executive Stakeholder & Supplier Leadership: Build high-impact partnerships with global manufacturers, ensuring alignment on strategic direction, commercial priorities, and long-term growth. Represent the GB business in global and regional executive forums, contributing to commercial strategy, cross-market collaboration, and innovation initiatives. Lead executive-level negotiations on supplier contracts, distribution agreements, and multi-year commercial frameworks. Build and cultivate relationships with key healthcare stakeholders such as NHS and private hospital groups, leveraging the [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] brand and infrastructure.
- Market Development & Innovation: Identify and lead strategic growth opportunities including new therapy areas, product categories, digital health partnerships, and value-added service models. Drive the strategic product roadmap, including new technology adoption and retirement of underperforming product lines. Conduct high-level market intelligence reviews to anticipate regulatory, competitive, and customer shifts, informing long-term strategy.
- People & Organisational Leadership: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performance team across all commercial and operational functions. - Operational Governance & Compliance – supporting [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]'s Global Operations Team: Ensure operational excellence and governance across all GB activities including regulatory compliance, QA/RA alignment, and supply chain efficiency. Oversee adherence to relevant healthcare and medical device regulations (e.g., EU MDR, MHRA, FDA guidelines), product registration timelines, and audit readiness. Work closely with centralised support functions (Operations, Finance, HR, IT, Logistics, Quality) to optimise operational performance and resource planning.
Qualifications & Experience
- Significant senior leadership experience (typically 10+ years) within the medical devices, MedTech, or healthcare distribution sectors.
- Proven success in leading a national or multi-country organisation with P&L ownership.
- Deep expertise in GB healthcare procurement pathways, NHS commercial structures, tendering processes, and reimbursement models.
- Demonstrated track record in securing and managing strategic partnerships with global manufacturers.
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks (e.g., ISO 13485, GDP, EU MDR, MHRA and local registration requirements).
- Experience driving operational and digital transformation initiatives is advantageous.
- Degree in Business, Life Sciences, Healthcare Management, or a related discipline preferred.
