What you will do

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Lincoln based Trainee Installer to join our field installation team. This is a hands-on, outdoor-based role where you will learn how to install and support a wide range of roadside and urban transport technology systems. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will gain practical skills in installing, wiring, and maintaining equipment used to manage traffic flow and improve road safety.

  • Learning how to install traffic signals, pedestrian crossings, and roadside control equipment
  • Assisting with the installation of traffic sensors, detection systems, and electronic signage
  • Supporting engineers with wiring, mounting, and commissioning of roadside systems
  • Ensuring all tools, equipment, and PPE are used safely and correctly
  • Helping to prepare and set up site installations
  • Supporting maintenance and basic repair activities under supervision
  • Following Health & Safety procedures at all times
  • Completing job sheets and basic site documentation accurately

What we are looking for

Essential:

  • Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions
  • Ability to work outdoors and at heights
  • Enthusiastic, reliable, and safety-conscious approach
  • Good practical and mechanical aptitude
  • Organised and punctual
  • Full UK driving licence (or working towards obtaining)
  • Safe manual handling awareness

Desirable:

  • GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C or above)
  • Basic understanding of electrical principles
  • Interest in engineering, construction, or roadside infrastructure
  • Hands-on or practical experience (work, hobbies, or education)
