The Team

We are a team of engineers experienced both in the design and manufacture of driving simulators, as well as their use in vehicle development. We develop, deliver and support outstanding, ground-breaking simulators and motion generators that support the engineering that leads to winning performance on the track.

The Role

The Build Engineer is responsible for the hands-on assembly and integration of motion simulator products, ensuring builds are completed safely, accurately, and on time.

Working as part of a bay team under a Build Team Lead, Lead Build Engineer or Senior Build Engineer, the Build Engineer applies their skills to turn designs and components into complete, operational systems that meet company design and quality standards.

The build engineer will carry out Installs and Maintenances activities at customer sites both in the UK and Internationally, including periods of working away from home. Keeping up our quality and safety standards, whilst remaining professional representing [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal].

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble components on existing, repeat systems where the technical challenges are understood.
  • Assemble components in accordance with engineering drawings, build instructions, and work orders.
  • Takes ownership of assigned tasks, managing time and priorities effectively.
  • Positively participate in training and mentoring opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with other build engineers and technicians within the bay.
  • Support and coach colleagues in shared assembly tasks.
  • Supports new starters within the team.

Continuous Improvement & Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with other Build Engineers and other disciplines whilst working on and off site.
  • Communicate in a timely manner about progress, issues, and material/tooling needs.

Health & Safety and Quality:

  • Ensure all work meets internal quality standards and complies with build documentation, test procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, use PPE correctly, and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
  • Complete build records, test data, and inspection reports accurately.
  • Identify and report any quality or build issues promptly.
  • Maintain safe working practices and proactively identify and report potential hazards.
  • Ensure adherence to all guidance provided by senior, lead, principal engineers and team lead.

Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing wiring looms, soldering, crimping or panel/machinery builds.
  • NVQ level 3 in Aerospace or Motorsport or apprenticeship in another relevant industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and understand bill of materials with knowledge of Eplan/Autocad.
  • Proficiency in using test equipment such as multi-meters, insulation resistance testers, earth continuity testers.
  • Demonstrate strong initiative and the ability to work independently, while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.

Desirable:

  • IPC training.
  • Experience in System 25, Milspec connectors, Raychem boots etc.
  • Current 18th Edition wiring regulations (BS7671).
