About the Role

The Design Director will lead the [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] design-related function in the EMEA region for our hyperscale data centre projects in the DCX team. You will be expected to lead [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]’s end-to-end (E2E) Design Management function in EMEA, ensuring consistency in the service provided by vendors and consultants, promoting best practice, compliant design, and continuous improvement of our designs and design delivery. The EMEA Regional Design Director role is a senior leadership role within DCX (Data Centre Execution) in [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], and reports-in to the VP Global Design.

Main Responsibilities

  • Accountable for providing strategic leadership in Design Management for the EMEA business.
  • Leading the design process and delivery for EMEA, taking accountability for design programmes, completeness and compliancy.
  • Accountable for managing relationships with key designers and consultants.
  • Providing rigour around design appointments and ensuring E2E processes are managed effectively.
  • Inputting into periodic review of standards, policies and procedures.
  • Supporting procurement process and vendor bid analysis.
  • Raising consultant escalations to the VP Global Design.
  • Accountable for EMEA monthly, quarterly and annual Design reporting.
  • Ensuring Design knowledge and best practice is captured and fed back.
  • Supporting career development strategy for design managers and BIM.
  • Leading audits for design within EMEA.
  • Lead and manage full design lifecycle for hyperscale data centre projects.

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 15 years' experience of highly serviced buildings with understanding of MEP and CSA elements.
  • Knowledge of Data Centres or mission critical facilities is a must.
  • Bachelor’s degree (essential) or Master’s degree (desirable) in Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
  • At least 8+ years’ experience delivering design management or design consultancy in hyperscale data centre mission-critical facilities.
  • Expert knowledge of design and construction processes, planning and permitting across European markets.
  • Hands-on experience with BIM, CDE/EDMS systems and tools such as Navisworks.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working in Germany or Spain is highly desirable.
