Salary: £22,000 – £24,500 (DOE) + Benefits
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week (Monday–Friday 9–5, Saturday 9–1, with one weekday off or half-day each week)
Our client, a long established & respected family-run independent optical group is seeking an experienced Optical Assistant to join their team across their Southampton and Romsey practices. With practices across Hampshire the business is well known for delivering exceptional patient care, supported by the latest clinical technology including OCT scanning in every practice.
The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Optical Assistant who is confident in all aspects of dispensing and enjoys working within a small, supportive team environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering excellent patient care and ensuring the smooth running of the practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispensing spectacles and advising on a wide range of lens options (single vision, bifocals, varifocals)
- Assisting patients with frame selection, adjustments, and small repairs
- Managing patient appointments and general reception duties
- Supporting the clinical team with day-to-day operations
- Occasionally working across the group’s other branches to support clinics
- Ensuring a welcoming and professional environment for all patients
Requirements
- Previous experience as an Optical Assistant is essential
- Strong dispensing knowledge across lenses and frames
- A full, clean UK driving licence with access to a car
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively within a small, close-knit team
- Flexibility to travel across multiple practices when required
The Package
- Competitive salary between £22,000 – £24,500 per annum (negotiable depending on experience)
- 28 days annual leave (including 8 bank holidays)
- Full-time hours: 35 per week, including Saturday mornings with a weekday/half-day off
