Job Overview
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Optometry is supporting a well-established optical practice in Cardiff city centre, recruiting an Optical Assistant to join a busy, customer-focused team.
This is a key support role working closely with the Optometrist and Dispensing Optician, helping to deliver an excellent patient experience while contributing to the commercial success of the practice. The role would suit an individual with strong customer service skills, a professional approach, and previous experience within optics or retail healthcare.
The Role
- Delivering excellent customer service with a high level of professionalism
- Supporting patients in selecting frames, lenses, and optical products suited to their lifestyle and prescription
- Assisting with dispensing glasses and contact lenses
- Providing accurate information on products, services, and current promotions
- Maintaining high standards of store presentation and product security
- Accurately operating the POS system, including cash, card, and returns
- Reviewing prescriptions and identifying special requirements, escalating to an Optician where appropriate
- Managing customer queries and resolving concerns efficiently
- Working effectively within a team to support day-to-day operations and business performance
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within optics is desirable
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Confident sales ability with a patient-first approach
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment
- A positive, reliable team player committed to supporting colleagues
