FULL DESCRIPTION

Recovery worker

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], a leading private addiction treatment hospital nestled in the peaceful surroundings of West Linton, is seeking a dedicated and empathetic individual to join our Therapy Department as a Recovery Worker. Full-time – 40 hours per week, £14.42 per hour. Start Date: 1st June 2026 or sooner if possible.

Shift coverage

  • 7am – 3pm: Para-clinical support and daytime activities.
  • 2:30pm – 10:30pm: Community management and evening programme delivery.

Shifts are 8-hour shifts worked 5 days out of 7 and include weekends and evenings as rostered.

Core functions

  • Recovery Support & Modelling: Share personal recovery experiences (if applicable). Facilitate workshops and connect patients to external recovery networks.
  • Patient engagement: Provide emotional support and accountability during unstructured time. Assist with transition planning and daily check-ins. Help patients engage in complementary activities and community events. Encourage participation in groups and support patients in adjusting to treatment routines.
  • Community management & safety: Enforce programme rules and conduct security checks. Support de-escalation and promote positive community dynamics. Maintain daily routines and structure as directed by the Senior or Lead. Report concerns promptly to Senior or Lead RSWs to ensure early intervention and patient safety.
  • Programme delivery: Facilitate non-specialist groups and weekend activities. Lead recovery meetings and evening reflections.
  • Clinical support & documentation: Record clear and accurate observations and report concerns. Assist with therapy tasks and maintain team communication.
  • Administrative & practical duties: Support with routine tasks such as supervising telephones, distributing post, and setting up equipment. Assist with safe house applications and desktop suite use.
  • Occasional duties: Escort patients to appointments or activities. Assist with fitness sessions, pharmacy visits, or family visits.

Person specification

Essential: Passion for recovery and therapeutic work. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to patient needs. Willingness to learn and grow within a structured development pathway. Familiarity with 12-step recovery and therapeutic models.
