Job Description

In the Roman Catholic Diocese of Nottingham, the Clergy Health & well-being Team has a mission to support the clergy of our diocese in their health & well-being from ordination to life in retirement. We seek to provide a professional and trusted service. We are now looking to appoint a Personal Assistant to the CHWB Co-ordinator, who will work in support of the Clergy Health & well-being Co-ordinator for the Team as we seek to fulfil this mission. This role is necessarily varied in its requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a full understanding of the Catholic faith and the role of Priests and Permanent Deacons in the church. They will have the ability to show empathy, have a listening ear and experience of team working. The candidate must have a professional attitude to the role and a desire to maintain high standards. They will have administrative experience gained in a care setting e.g., healthcare, social work, charity, or local authority and be aware of the central importance of confidentiality. A basic knowledge of GDPR and safeguarding regulations are essential.

The applicant will be an effective and empathetic communicator and exhibit a high standard of English language skill, verbally and in the written word. They will be knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Office including spreadsheets and be able to create and draw appropriate data from these. They will have creative skills in the creation of communications, booklets, invitations to clergy both in paper and online formats.

This role will require regular telephone contact with members of the clergy and other departments; therefore, the applicant will need to evidence good interpersonal skills. The candidate will be required to assist in the organisation of venues for meetings, conferences, and social events. They will also take minutes at certain meetings and disseminate these appropriately. The ideal candidate will be conscientious and reliable, being responsible and able to work independently at times, referring on as appropriate. For the right candidate appropriate further IT training will be considered.

Additional Details

  • Base: Diocesan Curial Offices, 1 Castle Quay, Castle Boulevard, Nottingham NG7 1FW. The post holder will be required to work at any other DCO location. A combination of home and office (hybrid) working may be available subject to agreement and review.
  • Access to Transport: A clean Driving License and use of a car is required. (Mileage cost reimbursements will apply)
  • Line manager: Clergy Health & Well-Being Co-ordinator
  • Hours of work: 22.5 Hours per week (3 weekdays)
  • Hourly rate: £23,400 - £25,000 a year pro rata and dependent on experience
