Role Overview

To support the work of diocesan curia departments in their service to the parishes of the diocese, including supporting the work of the Parish Finance Support Manager (OPAS); always maintaining a professional and high quality, service-oriented environment. The primary purpose of the role is to provide ongoing support to OPAS (Online parish accounting system) users with the OPAS online accounting system, used for parish financial management and control; support completion of the rollout program; support parish staff with the production of financial information to record & report on financial data in a timely and compliant manner; supporting the use of OPAS in individual parishes or as part of a Deanery Service Hub.

Based at: Diocese and offices and other locations in the diocese as required.

Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to ‘A’ level or equivalent qualification or experience in an appropriate discipline.
  • Experience of working as a Finance Assistant, Finance Officer or similar role
  • Knowledge of and experience of using a recognised accounting system (i.e., Xero)
  • Awareness of the importance of confidentiality and data protection
  • Good knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (creating spreadsheets and using financial functions)
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • Attention to detail, with an ability to spot numerical errors
  • Ability to communicate and prioritise work effectively
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage own workload
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexible approach to work and a willingness to undertake a variety of tasks
