Department Overview

Data Services is a critical function responsible for delivering comprehensive global data solutions across the Wholesale Division. The team comprises Data Engineers, Product Owners, and Project Management professionals who execute complex, high-impact initiatives.

Role Overview

The role is for an Executive Director to lead the Enterprise Data Lake initiative, reporting directly to the Global Head of Wholesale Data Technology. This is a transformational leadership opportunity to drive the strategic vision and implementation of a data lake platform serving Global Markets business lines worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the strategic vision and technical roadmap for the Enterprise Data Lake.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with Global Markets business lines.
  • Establish and oversee technical direction and architectural standards.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing global team.
  • Drive data governance frameworks, quality standards, and operational procedures.
  • Partner with senior executives and technology stakeholders.
  • Oversee budget planning, resource allocation, and vendor management.
  • Establish KPIs, success metrics, and reporting frameworks.
  • Lead evaluation and selection of technologies.
  • Ensure risk management, security protocols, and disaster recovery.
  • Lead strategic vendor partnerships and procurement processes.
  • Establish vendor management frameworks for all Enterprise Data Lake initiatives.

Skills, Experience, Qualifications and Knowledge Required

  • Executive Director level progressive leadership experience in financial services technology.
  • Proven track record of designing, building, and implementing large-scale enterprise data lakes for Global Markets or Investment Banking.
  • Deep expertise in modern data lake technologies, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and big data ecosystems (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
  • Comprehensive understanding of Global Markets business operations including Fixed Income, Equities, FX, Commodities, and Derivatives.
  • Demonstrated success in leading large, geographically distributed technical teams.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management and P&L responsibility.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • Proven ability to drive organizational change.
  • Experience with vendor management and technology procurement.
