The Port Operative role involves the discharge and loading of all cargo from vessels using a variety of plant and equipment.

What You'll Do

  • Work in a flexible manner both with work patterns and also the type of role that is carried out, to enable Port Operatives to be used in the most cost effective and operationally strategic manner
  • Carry out all roles within your skills level in support of port operations. This includes but is not limited to driving, lashing, plant operation, scanning and any ancillary work connected with such operations.
  • Demonstrate a flexible approach to all work and where you hold the relevant licenses you will operate other plant or perform and carry out other duties when required.
  • Undertake any reasonable training that the Company may require. This includes training for current or new duties as well as the periodic reassessment of existing licenses.
  • Strive to achieve consistently high levels of productivity and customer service.
  • Ensure compliance to all policies, procedures, standard operating practices, with recommendations for action and continuous improvement.
  • Assist in other areas of vessel activities within skills level as and when required.
  • Assist in other areas of the wider business as reasonably required and within skills level.
  • Act as an Ambassador for the business at all times by acting as mentor/guide and setting a good example to others.

What You'll Need

  • Full UK driving Licence
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Work accuracy - Quality and attention to detail
  • Ability to understand, accept and enjoy cultural differences.
  • Meet changing priorities and business needs in a positive and flexible manner.
  • Time Management - Prioritising tasks to meet deadlines
  • Basic English language skills required.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous
