Department description: Technology provides digital tools, software services, and infrastructure globally to all business groups. Software development and support teams work in agile ‘streams’ aligned to specific business areas. Other teams work enterprise-wide to provide critical services including the global service desk, network and system infrastructure, IT operations, security, enterprise architecture and design. The Business Technology function ensures delivery of Technology services to each of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]’s business areas by optimising their technology stack, prioritising their strategic technology roadmap, and driving their software delivery lifecycle. Each Business Technology team is aligned to one of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]’s business divisions and works with a corresponding Development team and Application Support team.

Role Summary

The London-based Operations Technologist will support all areas of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]’s Operations department, with a particular focus on the derivatives, energy, Broker Dealer, and Swap Dealer businesses by partnering with stakeholders across a broad section of the business. The role collaborates to define and implement a vision for world-class operational platforms, applying modern technology to improve trade processing, controls, reconciliations, and regulatory reporting across OTC and listed products. Acting as a key point of contact from inception through business acceptance, the Operations Technologist will capture and shape requirements for change initiatives and translate them into clear deliverables for the wider technology organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall architecture and design of the technology developed by the business.
  • Provide strategic technological direction for the business.
  • Innovate new solutions, ensuring the business is always one step ahead of the competition.
  • Contribute to the technical direction of the department, research new concepts and technologies, and evaluate third party products and tools.
  • Define the development roadmap and strategy and ensure the team is adequately resourced.
  • Oversee projects to ensure they are run efficiently and delivered on time and on budget.
  • Prioritise and drive the business requirements and give regular status updates.
  • Ensure delivered systems are of production quality and adequately documented.
  • Familiar with regulatory, audit, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure delivered systems are secure, reliable, and scaled.
  • Help define best software development practices.
  • Create epics with acceptance criteria and report on progress.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (SEC, FINRA, NFA, CFTC).
  • Adhere to operational risk framework.
  • Role model for integrity and conduct reflecting Company Values.

Skills and Experience

  • Good knowledge across various asset class products.
  • Experience with regulatory reporting regimes (EMIR, MiFID II/MiFIR, CFTC, MAS, ASIC, SFTR).
  • Understanding of financial products across derivatives, FX, commodities, cash equities and fixed income.
  • Deep understanding of post-trade lifecycle including confirmation, settlement, clearing, collateral, reconciliations.
  • Experience with post-trade platforms and integrations.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory obligations for listed derivatives, Broker Dealer, Swap Dealer.
  • Experience delivering change across operations technology.
  • Strong project planning and coordination skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and business analysis skills.
  • Experience designing secure, reliable, scalable applications.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience in a regulated environment.
