About the Role
Bid Writer (Northern Home Counties Business) – Location: Welwyn Garden City – Office Based, with flexibility for occasional remote working. We are looking for an experienced and talented Bid Writer to work as part of the Preconstruction Team, as bid writing lead to create high quality submission documents and carry out client research that helps the business to win work within the Northern Home Counties Business.

Key Responsibilities
- Understand the drivers within each sector and for various clients
- Produce winning bid responses with style, structure and persuasion
- Support BD in scheme research, pipeline and events management
- Hold brainstorming and response workshops
- Align and develop themes and a coherent winning bid strategy
- Share ideas to raise the standard of submissions
- Engage with the wider bid/project team to ensure all ideas are captured and developed
- Desktop research
- Liaise with tender and project team and prepare CVs
- Liaise with team to identify and develop key themes
- Attend launch meeting and agree deliverables and deadlines
- Attend site visits
- Arrange and facilitate workshops with bid team
- Draft executive summary, distribute key win themes and ideas to the team
- Review answers from the team; check for consistency etc
- Keep the team on track with the “end” deadline so the document can be reviewed by a third party
- Post tender/mid tender – help the team to prepare for any interviews
- Agree and incorporate feedback
- Producing high-quality, persuasive written content for PQQs, tenders and proposals
- Understanding client requirements, identifying USPs and developing compelling win themes
- Research and summarise markets, competitors and bid-related topics
- Ensure all submissions meet mandatory requirements and deadlines
- Interviewing subject matter experts to extract project details and methodologies
- Interviewing client teams where appropriate to extract client objectives and key requirements to inform USPs
- Maintaining a database of standard responses, case studies, CVs along with feedback to improve responses
- Working with subject matter experts, managers, stakeholders to gather technical information/ input
Requirements
- Experience with creative writing and structuring of winning bids
- Previous experience of developing proposals
- Qualified to degree level
- Ability to understand procedures and policies
- Deal effectively with colleagues, work well alone or as part of a team
- Good writing, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Follow oral and written instructions
- Microsoft Office and Creative suite competent
- Manage and coordinate with third parties, including authors and animators
