About the Role
You will work within our Construction Central & West business, where you will:
- Work proactively with managers to establish and maintain safe systems of work and a safe environment for colleagues and customers.
- Provide advice to and support management teams, champions, coaches, employees and those working with us in regard to action and improvement plans for creating a safe working environment.
- Support and advise all [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] management, staff, and those working with us regarding our action/improvement plans for minimising risk.
- Participate in the promotion of SHE programmes and schemes.
- Compile and analyse local SHE statistical information and support development of action plans.
- Monitor competencies of all staff and advise on shortfalls.
- Identify and meet employee training needs in relation to SHE and develop/deliver training sessions.
- Ensure training provided by external organisations is competent and effective.
- Coordinate, develop and maintain positive relationships with regulatory bodies and local stakeholders, including HSE, Local Authorities, EA, SEPA and Trade Unions.
- Prioritise resources based on risk identified from trend data.
- Ensure compliance with [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] IMS management system.
- Monitor, evaluate and review health and safety policy and practice; develop new policy and procedure documents as required.
- Advise management on implications of current and emerging SHE legislation.
- Assist line managers in implementing SHE systems and procedures (e.g., accident reporting, COSHH).
- Support managers to maintain safe systems of work and implement best practice.
- Work with managers and staff to ensure risk assessments are prepared and reviewed.
- Assist management to deliver a safe and incident free environment; support accident and incident investigations.
- Carry out audits to evaluate effectiveness of SHE systems and identify improvements.
- Manage collection, storage and analysis of accident and health and safety data; produce reports and identify trends.
- Maintain personal professional development regarding SHE legislation, technology and best practices.
- Support a teamwork approach by being open and honest.
What We Are Looking For
You will provide hands on SHE support across multiple construction sites with heavy involvement in pre-construction and planning for safety. Coaching site teams and supply chain partners to drive best practice and positive safety behaviours while conducting inspections, audits and incident investigations. Experience in construction or related high-risk industry is advantageous.
- General NEBOSH Certificate required.
- NEBOSH Diploma (desirable).
- NEBOSH Fire Prevention and Risk Management Certificate (desirable).
- Environmental Management Systems Qualification (desirable).
- Detailed knowledge of current SHE best practice.
