Job Description

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a dedicated and proactive Purchasing Assistant to join our team. Reporting directly to the Purchasing Manager, this role will involve assisting with the day-to-day purchasing of stock and ensuring smooth communication between various departments, including stores, accounts, and suppliers.

As a Purchasing Assistant, you will play a key role in maintaining and reviewing the Vendor Assessment Scheme, ensuring the quality of goods received matches requested specifications, and arranging for the return of unacceptable items.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the daily purchasing of stock for [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Manufacturing.
  • Liaise with stores, accounts, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Maintain and review the Vendor Assessment Scheme, ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Organize the return of any unacceptable goods.
  • Handle daily administration tasks such as weekly reports, data analysis, updating databases, and managing stock orders.
  • Carry out other duties as required by management.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • A minimum of 1-2 years’ previous experience in a purchasing role.
  • Strong commercial acumen and excellent negotiation skills.
  • Proficient computer skills and familiarity with purchasing software.
  • A self-motivated, proactive attitude with the ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.

Working Hours

Monday – Thursday: 8:00am – 5:30pm & Friday: 8:00am – 4:00pm
