Housing Team Leader

£35,000 – £38,000 | 36 hours | Newham

Location: Newham

Are you an experienced supported housing practitioner ready to step into leadership? Do you want to combine hands-on support work with the opportunity to supervise staff, shape practice and strengthen outcomes for people experiencing homelessness? [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a Housing Team Leader to play a key operational role within our supported housing services in Newham.

About the role:

As Housing Team Leader, you will provide hands-on operational leadership within [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]'s Supported Housing services. Reporting to the Housing Service Manager, you will coordinate the day-to-day delivery of high-quality, strengths-based support for people experiencing homelessness, ensuring safe, consistent and resident-focused practice.

This role combines first-line management with direct practice responsibility. You will line-manage Housing Support Workers, oversee casework quality, safeguarding implementation and rent processes, and hold a small caseload of residents, including more complex or high-risk cases.

Key responsibilities:

  • Day-to-Day Service Delivery
  • Coordinate day-to-day service delivery
  • Line-manage Housing Support Workers
  • Act as first point of escalation for safeguarding and operational issues
  • Monitor casework quality, risk management and move-on planning
  • Oversee rent processes and tenancy sustainment
  • Hold a small caseload of residents, including more complex cases
  • Model strong, outcome-focused support practice

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Has solid experience in supported housing or homelessness services
  • Has managed complex or high-risk cases confidently
  • Understands safeguarding and tenancy sustainment
  • Has experience supervising or mentoring staff
  • Can balance compassion with professional boundaries
  • Is organised, proactive and solutions-focused
