All Senior Trust Clinical Fellow appointments are made in accordance with our local Terms and Conditions of service, designed to offer experience and training to doctors who wish to pursue further training in an area relevant to General Internal Medicine in the UK. Posts advertised as full-time will be contracted at 40 hours per week. The actual hours of work will be as per your departmental rota, and may include up to an additional 8 hours per week average. The Trust is committed to flexible working and welcomes invitations from applicants seeking to work on a flexible or part-time basis.
Applicants will have completed at least four years full-time postgraduate training (or equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis, at least two years of which will be in a relevant specialty). Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required at CT/ST3 in a relevant specialty from other medical grades including from overseas will also be accepted including time within a relevant training programme. You should also hold full registration with the GMC prior to commencing employment in this post.
Main Duties of the Job
- Provide a service to patients of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal].
- Work within multi-disciplinary team in providing high quality clinical care.
- To be responsible for the continuing care and treatment of patients in their charge and personal performance of clinical duties as agreed in their job plan, allowing for all proper delegation to and training of their staff.
- Work collaboratively with the Emergency Department and other Speciality teams to ensure timely appropriate care and patient flow through the hospital.
- Attend multi-disciplinary meetings, which may be cross county and cross site.
- Collaborate with colleagues to deliver a high quality, timely service and to work towards meeting the Trusts and departmental objectives.
- Support professional supervision, training and management of junior medical staff, carrying out teaching, assessment and accreditation duties as required and contributing to postgraduate and CPD activity locally and nationally as appropriate.
- Participate in clinical audit as part of quality improvement activity under local arrangements.
- Be responsible for compliance with personal continuing professional development requirements with the support of the Trust.
- Be responsible for maintaining awareness of & acting in accordance with professional guidelines such as Duties of a Doctor, Good Medical Practice, & the GMC Performance Procedures.

Qualifications
Essential
- Eligible for full GMC Registration with a Licence to practise at the time of appointment.
- MB ChB, MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Satisfactory completion of ST1-2 training, or equivalent.
- ALS Certification.
- ATLS Certification.
Desirable
- Higher degree.
- Attendance at recognised management courses.
- Formal qualification in teaching/education.
- Membership examination with the relevant UK Royal College.

- Knowledge of audit principles and evidence of participation and completion of audit projects.

Other Requirements
Essential
- An understanding of the current NHS environment, particularly in relation to reforms, initiatives and issues.
- Able to meet the travel requirements of the job and return to the hospital within 30 minutes when undertaking non-resident on call duties.
- A Disclosures and Barring Service (DBS) check will be carried out where the position is eligible in accordance with the 2012 Protection of Freedom Act and the guidance issued by the DBS.
Experience
Essential
- Completed at least four years full time postgraduate training (or equivalent gained on part time basis) or have equivalent experience and competencies.
- Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required at CT/ST3 level in relevant specialty. Equivalent years experience in a relevant specialty from other medical grades including from overseas will also be accepted.
- Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems, both emergency and elective, within specialty and sufficient experience.
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
- Previous experience working in the NHS within the specialty of minimum of 12 months.
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively.
- Experience of audit management and conducting clinical audit.
Desirable
- Ability to use the evidence based and clinical audit to support decision making.
