Lead Nurse Colposcopist
There is an exciting opportunity for a lead nurse in colposcopy at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], working as a clinical expert with a specialist services.
This job will include working clinically as a colposcopist, undertaking patient care independently and also taking the lead role in interpretation of national clinical guidance and standards to include the development and implementation of Trust Colposcopy policies, guidelines and standards.
Main duties of the job
To lead alongside the Lead Consultant Colposcopist on the delivery of the colposcopy branch of the cervical screening programme within [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]. To practice independently as a Nurse Colposcopist, accredited by the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP). Together with the Colposcopy Consultants and members of the immediate Colposcopy clinical team, effectively co-ordinate and deliver an expert nursing service within the specialist area with a view to managing their own nurse-led outpatient clinics and in collaboration with the Colposcopy team advise on appropriate treatment plans. To oversee and coordinate alongside the Colposcopist and cervical screening programme lead (CSPL) the quality and effectiveness of the NHS Cervical Screening Programme services provided by [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal].

Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (adult) (Essential)
- BSCCP/ RCOG Colposcopy Accreditation (Essential)
- Highly specialist theoretical and practical knowledge and experience of clinical Colposcopy to master's level equivalent (Essential)
Knowledge & Nature of Experience
- Extensive understanding of professional nurse accountability and scope within gynae nursing
- Expert knowledge of colposcopy screening programme and QA requirements
- Understanding and competence in extended nursing procedures.
- Work autonomously managing own caseload and triaging referrals into service
- Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, referring patients to other disciplines as required
- Ability to assess, plan, and implement care for Patients.
- Ability to undertake consultations independently, including assessment, history taking, physical and psychological assessments, for example pelvic assessment
- Advanced physical skills required for performing colposcopies
- Advanced communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to produce comprehensive written reports to a high standard
- Evidenced leadership skills and attributes
- A particular interest in setting and maintaining high professional standard
- Awareness of Developments and Changes in Nursing/ NHS
- Maintain up to date knowledge of colposcopy practice through undertaking any networking and training
- IT literate, including applied knowledge of database management
