Practice Manager

Job summary

While prior NHS practice management experience is welcome, it is not essential. We are committed to supporting a capable financial leader in developing the necessary NHS knowledge. Due to retirement, [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is providing an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated person to join our Practice team. We are looking for an outstanding leader with a strong business mindset and a genuine passion for people. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with strong team-working skills who feels comfortable leading and implementing change. They will need to be adaptable, flexible and able to work autonomously. General Practice is a busy environment where no two days are the same. The role is part-time to full time (24-37 hours a week across 4/5 days) to suit the right candidate. Interviews Wednesday 27th May PM or Thursday 28th May PM.
Main duties of the job
The role encompasses overall responsibility for finance, HR, premises and facilities, governance, IT systems, and operational leadership. Working closely with the Partners and our assistant practice manager, you will ensure the practice operates efficiently, meets strategic goals, and supports our patient-centred ethos. We offer a collaborative, forward-thinking environment, with a full complement of clinical and administrative staff. Job responsibilities
- Overall management responsibility for the practice's non-clinical business functions, including but not limited to finance, IT systems and data processing, premises and facilities, compliance and governance.
- Ensure the effective use of existing and new IT systems to support performance, adapting and innovating where required.
- Provide leadership and co-ordination of administrative and non-clinical teams.
- Work collaboratively with clinical teams to support high-quality service delivery.
- Hold responsibility for achieving all primary care contractual targets.
- Support the Partners in strategic planning and operational decision-making.
Person Specification
Experience
Essential
- Significant financial management experience;
- Proven leadership and people management skills;
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities;
- High level of IT competence, including Excel and data manipulation.
Desirable
- Degree-level education;
- Payroll experience;
- Prior NHS practice management experience.
