Job Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist to join our Clinical Neuropsychology Service. We are part of the wider Clinical Health and Neuropsychology Service, providing neuropsychology and clinical health services within the London borough of Ealing. The Clinical Neuropsychology Service is integrated across both the Community Neurorehabilitation Team (Enable) and the inpatient Level 3 Neurorehabilitation Unit at Clayponds Hospital. The postholder will join a well-established multidisciplinary service working closely with occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, rehabilitation assistants, as well as nursing and medical colleagues.
Main Duties of the Job
- Provide highly specialist neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation for individuals with neurological conditions.
- Cognitive assessment and rehabilitation.
- Psychological therapy to support emotional adjustment and engagement in rehabilitation.
- Behavioural interventions.
- Consultation to the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Working with families and carers.
- Contributing to teaching, supervision, and service development.
- Assisting in clinically related administration, collection of statistics, and development of audit and/or research projects.

Qualifications
Essential
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology as accredited by the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) or HCPC Statement of Equivalence.
- Current registration as a Clinical Psychologist with the Health Care and Professions Council
Desirable
- Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working with people with neurological and/or neurosurgical conditions.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of patient groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
- Experience of the application of clinical psychology assessment, intervention and outcome measures with patients with neurological conditions.
- Experience of working within and actively participating in a team environment and contributing a psychological perspective within the context of multi-disciplinary care
Desirable
- Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
Knowledge & Skills
Essential
- Skills in the use of complex methods of neuropsychological assessment, intervention and management.
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non professional groups.
- Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and data analysis.
- Knowledge of recent government policy and legislation relevant to neuropsychological rehabilitation (e.g. NSF for Long Term Conditions, NICE Guidelines for Stroke)
- Well-developed skills in the ability to effectively communicate complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to patients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS, both orally and in writing.

Essential
- Flexible and autonomous approach to clinical work.
- Ability to form good working relationships with others in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of multi-media materials suitable for presentations within public, professional and academic settings.
- Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance as appropriate, to support and maintain clinical practice.
- Experience of the application of clinical neuropsychology in different cultural contexts
