Specialty Doctor - Ophthalmology
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a full-time, enthusiastic Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology based at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital. The role involves outpatient care, emergency eye clinic, clinical audit, and education. The successful candidate will have full GMC registration, ophthalmology experience, and skills in supervising junior doctors.
- Salary: £61,542 to £99,216 a year (per annum)
- Contract: Permanent, Full-time

Main Duties of the Job
- Outpatient Care: See new and follow-up patients in general ophthalmology clinics, with a named consultant available for case presentation and support if required.
- Patient Standards: Demonstrate a determination to meet and exceed the standards of the NHS Patients Charter and the Trust values.
- Emergency Care: Participate in treating emergency eye patients through the emergency eye clinic during normal working hours.
- Audit & Education: Participate actively in clinical audit and educational activities within the department and across the Trust.

Qualifications
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
Experience
- Experienced in managing elective outpatient caseloads
- Experienced in supervising junior doctors
Skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills and able to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and all levels of staff
- Teaching/presentation skills
- Competent decision maker
