Salary: £64,292 to £102,689 a year (Full-time, Permanent)

Job Summary
The post-holder will join the friendly and enthusiastic clinical team based working across [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] as a Speciality doctor covering Stroke Medicine. The Stroke Unit is presently based in the Royal Glamorgan Hospital as part of an Urgent Service Change but may be placed at any of our 3 District General Hospitals in the future. [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is one of the largest Health Boards in Wales. Welsh and English speakers are both equally welcome to apply.
Main Duties of the Job
- Supporting ward rounds in the Acute Stroke Unit.
- Supervision of the resident medical team and acts as a source of advice and support to the nursing staff.
- Review patients presenting with signs of an acute stroke in the Emergency Department and advise on the need for admission to the stroke unit, supported by the stroke consultant of the day.
- Attend stroke clinic and TIA clinics.
- Participate in clinical/medical audit, teaching and research within the stroke service and General Medical services across the base hospital.

Person Specification
Knowledge
Essential: Full GMC Registration, MBBCh or equivalent. Desirable: MRCP or equivalent.
Experience
Essential: Minimum 5 years post-graduate, 3 of which in medical specialties. Experience of stroke medicine at IMT or Registrar level. Desirable: Wide experience of medical specialities.
Audit & Research
Essential: Evidence of involvement with clinical audit and Quality Improvement. Desirable: Presentation at national or regional meetings. Formal training in Quality Improvement.
