Job Summary

We are inviting applications for Specialty Doctor in Prosthodontics to join our dynamic team, within the Division of Restorative Dentistry, starting at the earliest opportunity. This is a fixed term post for 12 months, primarily to support provision of patient care via treatment and consultation clinics. The post is based at the Royal National ENT & Eastman Dental Hospitals, part of the Specialist Hospitals Board of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]. Successful applicants will join a well established team in providing a wide range of complex Prosthodontic and Restorative procedures, including surgical components. They must be experienced in management of patients requiring a multidisciplinary approach, such as (but not limited to) head and neck cancer, hypodontia and dental trauma. Applicants will be expected to have excellent communication skills and some further postgraduate experience in this field. They should demonstrate evidence of both team working and leadership skills. Candidates should ideally be on/ eligible for the Specialist Register in Restorative Dentistry/ Prosthodontics or at the minimum demonstrate further postgraduate training in this discipline. Planned interview date: Thursday 4th June.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Provide care for patients requiring complex restorative/ prosthodontic rehabilitation and multidisciplinary care.
  • Support the Clinical Lead and rest of team to ensure departmental service and quality standards are fulfilled.
  • Participate in the training activities of the Department and potentially supervise the clinical work of trainees.
  • Assist with the development of the clinical service and foster good relationships with other practitioners.
  • Undertake administrative duties and clinical governance activities.
  • Engage in audit activities and continuing professional development.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Essential: BDS or equivalent, Full GDC registration, Non UK trained doctors must be on GDC Dentist register by interview date.
  • Desirable: MSc or equivalent, Membership of Faculty of Dental Surgery, On GDC Specialist Register for Restorative Dentistry and/or Prosthodontics.

Experience

  • Essential: Experience in diagnosis/treatment planning of restorative/prosthodontic patients, proficient in clinical procedures, evidence of hospital posts/training.
  • Desirable: Previous hospital posts/training in other disciplines e.g., Oral Surgery.

Skills and Abilities

  • Essential: Able to manage patients with advanced restorative/prosthodontic needs, participation in audit, evidence-based practice.
  • Desirable: Endodontic treatment, digital dentistry, dental implant rehabilitation, research/publications.
