Bank Facilities Housekeeper Carlisle & Brampton

Location: Carlisle & Surrounding Areas, Newtown Road, Carlisle, CA2 7HY

Salary: £25,272 a year (per annum pro rata)

Contract: Bank (Part-time)

Main duties of the job

  • Collect linen stores as required.
  • Comply with infection prevention and control procedures at all times.
  • Comply with responsibility to safeguard children and vulnerable adults.
  • Vacuum carpets, ensuring cleanliness.
  • Carry out damp dusting of furniture and fittings and at high and low levels.
  • Mop floor areas and maintain floors using electrical equipment when necessary.
  • Check electrical equipment is in good condition and currently PAT tested.
  • Clean toilets, baths and washbasins.
  • Empty all bins and dispose of waste appropriately, ensuring waste management regulations are followed.
  • Clean equipment after use.
  • Assist with ward or departmental duties as appropriate.
  • Undertake second cleaning of bodily fluids as required.
  • Guard against the potential risk associated with needle stick injuries, especially in toilet areas.
  • Wear uniform and protective clothing provided, as instructed.
  • Make beds as requested.
  • Ensure attendance at appropriate training.

Catering duties:

  • To ensure, in conjunction with Nursing staff, that patients are provided with appropriate meals.
  • To ensure that patient meals are served in a presentable and timely manner and that appropriate cutlery and condiments are supplied.
  • To ensure that all meal tables and eating areas are suitably prepared for meal times and to make sure they are wiped clean at the end of each meal.
  • Probe, record temperature of food and serve.
  • Record waste levels at the end of service.

Person Specification

Qualifications (Desirable)

  • NVQ 2 in Cleaning and Support Services
  • Food Hygiene Level 2

Knowledge and Experience (Essential)

  • Knowledge of cleaning, food handling/hygiene, COSHH procedures
  • Basic Literacy and Numeracy

Skills and Aptitudes (Essential)

  • Able to communicate with patients with behavioural issues or severe communication difficulties
  • Flexible approach to work

Personal Circumstances (Essential)

  • Smart, clean appearance
  • High personal standards
  • Be able to work shifts
