Salaried GP

This role offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality, patient-centred general practice while working within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred general practice care to the registered patient population, managing a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions through face-to-face, telephone and digital consultations. The role involves working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to safe clinical decision-making, continuity of care and effective patient management. The post holder will also participate in clinical governance, quality improvement activity and practice meetings.

Job responsibilities
- Provide clinical care through face-to-face, telephone and digital consultations.

Person Specification
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working in UK primary care or completion of GP Specialty Training within the NHS.
- Experience managing a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions within general practice.
- Ability to manage undifferentiated presentations and make safe clinical decisions in a primary care setting.
- Experience working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Experience using electronic patient record systems and digital clinical workflows.
- Demonstrable commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care, professionalism and clinical governance.
- Evidence of participation in audit, quality improvement activity or reflective practice as part of professional development.
Desirable
- Experience working as a salaried GP or locum GP within a general practice setting.
- Experience contributing to service development or practice improvement initiatives.
- Experience supporting teaching or supervision of medical students, Foundation doctors or GP trainees.
- Experience developing or delivering enhanced services within primary care.
- Experience or interest in procedural or specialist areas that strengthen community-based care such as minor surgery, dermatology, musculoskeletal medicine, joint injections, womens health or cardiometabolic disease management.
Qualifications
Essential
- Primary medical qualification recognised by the General Medical Council (MBBS, MBChB or equivalent).
- Full registration with a licence to practise with the General Medical Council.
- Entry on the General Medical Council GP Register.
- Included on the NHS England Performers List for General Practice.
- Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) or equivalent recognised qualification.
- Evidence of participation in Continuing Professional Development consistent with GMC revalidation requirements.
- Appropriate professional indemnity cover for general practice.
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualification or diploma relevant to primary care (e.g. dermatology, diabetes, womens health, musculoskeletal medicine, or similar).
- Additional certification in enhanced primary care skills such as minor surgery, dermoscopy, joint injections, or long-acting reversible contraception.
- Evidence of formal training in medical education, mentorship or supervision.
- Evidence of further professional development aligned with extended roles within community-based care.
