Job Summary
Working in a clinical session providing contraception, especially long acting reversible contraception (LARC) and the testing and management of sexual infections. The holder of the post would work alongside a medical and nursing team in providing services in a level 3 Integrated sexual health service. Experience of independent practice in LARC provision is essential. Experience of providing contraception to specific populations such as young people, peri-menopausal women and those with specific medical conditions would be desirable. Prior experience in management of sexual infections, is essential as training. This post is not recognised for specialty training.

Job Responsibilities
- Providing contraception, especially long acting reversible contraception (LARC) and the testing and management of sexual infections.
- Work independently, but within competencies at all times. Seek senior support where necessary.
- Show flexibility and undertake different appropriate clinical tasks within allocated DCC sessions at the request of the clinical manager, as the need arises.
- Actively participate in clinical guidelines development, audit and CPD.
- Actively contribute to clinical guidelines development, clinical governance activities.
- Work with manager to stay up-to-date with EPR changes
- Ensure accurate, complete and contemporaneous coding of clinical activity.
- Pursue continuing medical education to the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive health and GMC guidelines.
- Actively participate in the Units Teaching Programme and undertake supervision, teaching and training of medical trainees and other multi-professional staff, in line with guidance from the relevant specialty bodies.

Education
Essential
- Basic Medical Qualification (MBBS or equivalent)
- Full GMC Registration at time of appointment and holds a current licence to practice.
- DFSRH
- Letters of competence in subdermal implants & intrauterine techniques
Desirable
- MFSRH
- Relevant qualification/accreditation in medical education as per FSRH requirements to become a Faculty Registered Trainer e.g. Postgraduate Course In Medical Education for Sexual and Reproductive Health (or completed within 12 months of appointment)
- DIPGUM or STIF advanced competencies or equivalent experience
Experience
Essential
- Significant Clinical Experience in sexual and reproductive health provision in UK
- Clinical experience in diagnosis and management of sexually transmitted infections
- Experience of audit, quality improvement and other aspects of clinical governance
- Experience on providing training and education to undergraduates and other members of the multidisciplinary team

- Ability to demonstrate effective team working.
- Good understanding of and adherence to the principles of Good Medical Practice set out by the General Medical Council.
