Senior Healthcare Support Worker

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking an experienced Healthcare Support Worker for their Infectious Disease ward. This is a fixed term contract for 12 months, band 3, with salary of £25,760 to £27,476 per annum (pro rata for part time). Based at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] in Bristol. Job Summary

The ward currently has 33 beds in the main ward and an additional 6 in the isolation unit. The multidisciplinary team includes Infectious Disease Consultants, Resident Doctors, Pharmacists, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists. The role involves delivering direct patient care and supporting registered practitioners.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Obtain consent prior to giving care in accordance with Trust policies.
  • Carry out a range of clinical duties with minimal supervision including blood pressure monitoring, oxygen saturation levels, body temperature, pulse rate and respiration rate, glucose monitoring, collection and testing of urine/faecal/sputum samples and wound swabs.
  • Participate in patient assessment and escalate concerns to clinical staff.
  • Practice safe standards of care following Trust guidelines and infection prevention policies.
  • Develop skills to facilitate self-care and independence with patients.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate with patients, relatives, and the MDT.

Person Specification - Essential

  • Level 3 qualification (NVQ 3, City & Guilds, BTEC National Diploma) or equivalent experience (minimum 12 months).
  • GCSE grade A-C (grade 4+) in English and Maths or equivalent.
  • At least 12 months experience in a health or social care setting, including hospital/acute care.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • IT skills (basic Word, Email, keyboard skills).
  • Commitment to high quality patient care.
