CAMHS Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist (N&S Orchids)
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist for the Orchids Team. This is a fixed-term, part-time role (12 months) based at the Pears Maudsley Centre, London. Salary: £58,133 - £65,261 per annum. Closing date: 19 May 2026.
Job Summary
Due to maternity cover, there is an exciting opportunity to work as a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist within the Orchids Team, a National and Specialist CAMHS service working in collaboration with the Autism and Intellectual Disabilities- Intensive Intervention Team (AID-IIT). Orchids work with young people across London aged under 13 with a suspected or confirmed diagnosis of autism and/or intellectual disability and complex mental health needs, aiming to reduce or prevent inpatient admission.
Main Duties
- Lead occupational therapy input within the MDT, including highly specialist assessments and interventions for young people and families.
- Provide consultation, training, and support to multi-agency local networks.
- Work across community, inpatient, and home settings as required.
- Manage a complex caseload using evidence-based principles.
- Provide clinical leadership for junior staff and students.
- Participate in service development, audit, and research.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Qualified and registered Occupational Therapist with HCPC (Essential)
- Postgraduate in sensory integration (Desirable)
- Specialist training/experience in autism assessment measures (ADOS-2) (Desirable)
Experience
- Substantial post-registration experience as an occupational therapist (Essential)
- Leadership and line management experience (Essential)
- Experience with mental health service users (Essential)
- Experience with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, and comorbid mental health difficulties (Essential)
Knowledge/Skills
- Theoretical knowledge of psychopathology and evidence-based treatment for children with autism and neurodevelopmental conditions
- Specialist knowledge of occupational therapy assessments and interventions for children and young people with autism
- Communication skills for complex and sensitive information
- Ability to work autonomously and within a multi-disciplinary team
