Endoscopy Receptionist
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is hiring an Endoscopy Receptionist to join their team in Truro. This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 12 months with a salary of £25,272 per year. The role involves providing clerical support in the Endoscopy Department reception area.
Job summary
We are looking for a cheerful, conscientious and adaptable person to join our team providing clerical support within the Reception area of the Endoscopy Department. Applicants should have excellent communication skills, be self-motivated and able to make full use of the computer systems after training. A willingness to learn and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential. This is a very busy area and provides a focal point for receiving patients, visitors and staff to the department. You would be joining a dedicated administrative team that supports patient care.
Main duties of the job
- Greet and receive and direct patients, carers and visitors at reception desks in line with Trust procedures.
- Answer the telephone in accordance with Department procedure.
- Understand the complete range of administration functions, responsibilities, and duties both routine and non-routine to contribute to the effective delivery of patient care, through knowledge of hospital systems and consultant practice.
- Register patients in accordance with departmental policy.
- Maintain and update the Patient Administration System (PAS) following training using training manual and procedures supplied.
- Prepare for upcoming endoscopy clinics, creating episodic folders/legacy notes, tracering of files.
- Work in a calm, logical and methodical way, multitask whilst dealing with frequent interruptions, and possess excellent communication skills.
- Cover colleagues in times of sickness and annual leave; work flexibly to meet changing needs of service.

Person Specification
Experience
Essential: Previous administrative experience, Customer care skills. Desirable: Previous NHS experience, Knowledge of PAS, UNIT 4, MAXIMS.
Practical and Intellectual Skills
Essential: Proven communication skills, Ability to prioritise and manage own workload, Understanding of appointment systems, Good computer keyboard skills, Good customer care skills. Desirable: Administrative qualification (e.g. ECDL).
Qualifications
Essential: Good level of general education, including English and Mathematics.
