Pharmacy Branch Manager

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is hiring a Pharmacy Branch Manager to cover outpatient pharmacy sites at Royal Preston Hospital and other locations. This is a permanent, full-time position with an hourly salary of £15.21 to £17.99. The closing date is 11 May 2026.

Job Summary

The position covers outpatient pharmacy sites at Royal Preston Hospital, Rosemere Centre, Chorley and South Ribble District General Hospital, Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Westmorland General Hospital, Furness General Hospital, Blackpool Victoria Hospital, Royal Blackburn Hospital, and Burnley General Hospital. The role is supported by other branch managers, the Operations Manager, and Superintendent Pharmacist.

Main Duties of the Job

  • To be responsible for the effective operation of your allocated branch.
  • To manage a high functioning team.
  • To work in collaboration with the other branch managers.
  • To ensure that company KPIs are met.

Job Responsibilities

  • Acting as a role model for the team.
  • Promoting and upholding a positive culture.
  • Rota Management including responding to absences.
  • Investigating incidents and complaints.
  • Line management of staff in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Managing attendance, conduct and performance.
  • Coordinating day to day activities for the team.
  • Conducting 121s and Appraisals.
  • Ensuring that training compliance is up to date.
  • Acting as a key holder for the branches.
  • Ensuring that drug recalls are actioned within the recommended timeframe.
  • Training and assessing competencies of new and existing team members.
  • Ensuring compliance with ethical, professional, legal and GPhC Pharmacy Standards.
  • Ensuring company KPIs are met and, where applicable, improve team performance to achieve (including near misses, interventions, and turn-around times).
  • Acting as a point of contact and responding to queries from internal and external colleagues.
  • Ensuring accurate completion of weekly CD balance checks.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Education

  • Essential: MPharm or equivalent and GPhC registration as a Pharmacist OR recognised Pharmacy Technician Qualification and GPhC registration OR Level 2 Certificate in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Support Staff.
  • Desirable: Post-Graduate Leadership and Management Development qualification.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Essential: Knowledge of all core pharmacy tasks including dispensing, accuracy checking, ordering and receipt of medicines; Specialist technical knowledge of Good Dispensing Practice; Knowledge of medicines regulation, legislation and clinical governance; Ability to develop and deliver training; Evidence of service development; Experience in audit and service evaluation.
  • Desirable: Knowledge and practical experience in a pharmacy management/leadership role; Knowledge of HR policies and legislation; Project Management experience.
