Specialty Doctor in Forensic Psychiatry
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is hiring a Specialty Doctor in Forensic Psychiatry at The Wells Road Centre, Mapperley, Nottingham. This full-time, permanent role offers a salary of £61,542 to £99,216 per annum. The closing date is 19 May 2026.
Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to provide SAS level input into low secure inpatient services for adult men and women with mental illness and/or personality disorder, as well as services to adult men with intellectual disability. Main Duties
- Weekly psychiatric assessments or reviews of inpatient caseload
- First medical response to psychiatric emergencies and seclusion reviews
- Clerking in of new admissions
- Attendance at multi-disciplinary ward rounds and CPA meetings
- Preparation of reports for Mental Health Tribunals, Managers Hearings, CPAs and the Ministry of Justice
- Management of physical healthcare consequences of psychotropic medication
- Cover for trainees or colleagues during leave
- Participation in restrictive practice rota

Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Full GMC registration
- 3 years' clinical experience in psychiatry
- Experience in working with mentally disordered offenders / forensic psychiatric settings
- Risk assessment experience and CPA
- Experience of multi-disciplinary working
Desirable
- Part 1 MRCPsych or equivalent
- Section 12(2) approval
- Experience of working in NHS
- Experience of teaching resident doctors and medical students
