Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and detail-focused Band 4 Production / Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy Chemotherapy Production team. We would also consider applications from staff who are qualifying / registering soon on a progressional basis. This is a hands-on operational role supporting the preparation, documentation, stock management and supply of pharmaceutical products, working strictly in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), SOPs and Trust policies. This post requires sustained concentration, accuracy and the ability to work effectively in a cleanroom production environment.
Main Duties of the Job
- Prepare pharmaceutical products within cleanroom suites under supervision, following SOPs and GMP
- Complete, check and maintain production documentation, worksheets and labels accurately.
- Perform in-process checks and promptly report errors, deviations or unusual occurrences
- Support stock management including ordering, receipt, rotation, expiry monitoring and issuing.
- Ensure cleaning of production and storage areas meets GMP and departmental standards
- Use pharmacy computer systems for production tracking, documentation and stock control
- Support supervision and day to day guidance of pharmacy assistants and trainees as required.
- Assist with audits, KPIs and quality improvement activities

Person Specification
Qualifications
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians
- Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician Or Science Manufacturing Technician (SMT) Level 3
- (SMT) Level 3 Registration with the Science Council as a Registered Science Technician (RSciTech)
Experience
- Essential: Relevant experience of working as a Pharmacy Technician or Senior Assistant Technical Officer
- Desirable: Experience of working within a GMP / aseptic facility
Skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- IT literate and able to use Microsoft office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Organisation and prioritisation of the team and able to prioritise tasks accordingly
- Methodical attention to detail
- Good numeracy skills. Able to perform pharmaceutical calculations.
- Demonstrates ability to work alone and as part of a team
- Demonstrates ability to complete documentation accurately
- Ability to maintain a high standard of accuracy in a busy environment
Knowledge
- Understanding of General Pharmaceutical Council or Science Council Continuing Professional Development.
- Knowledge of current legislations and regulations, e.g. COSHH and Health and Safety at Work Act.
- Knowledge of Safe and Secure Handling of Medicines requirements
- Understanding of the importance of adherence to SOPs and MHRA legislation
