This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 12 months with [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] at Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport. The role provides secretarial support to Clinical Nurse Specialists and Consultants within the Urology Department.
Job Summary
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] offers an exciting development opportunity to join the Urology Secretarial team as a Support Secretary. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join us within the Urology Department, Royal Gwent Hospital. The successful candidate would be expected to demonstrate excellent organisational skills, be flexible to the needs of the service and able to demonstrate a commitment to achieving high standards of work. Knowledge of hospital systems would be beneficial although full training will be given to the successful candidate. This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months to cover the needs of the service. The hours of work will be between 09.00 and 17.00.
Main Duties
- To provide secretarial support to the Clinical Nurse Specialists and Consultants and the provision of general support throughout the department as and when necessary, during periods of sickness and annual leave.
- The typing of correspondence, clinic / result letters and general correspondence accurately and within time limits set by departmental standards.
- The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential:
- Knowledge of secretarial procedures and systems, the majority of which are non-routine, acquired through training and experience to Vocational Level 3 or equivalent
- Computer literate with excellent Word processing/keyboard skills.
- Excellent communication skills and good organisation skills.
Desirable:
- Studying toward Medical Secretarial Qualification.
- Experience of working in a hospital environment.
Experience
Essential:
- Previous experience of working in a clerical/secretarial role.
- Ability to communicate well with all levels of staff and members of the public
Desirable:
- NHS experience and overall experience
