Job Summary
We are a friendly and busy GP Practice looking to recruit a GP Assistant to support our team with the processing and management of our online Triage Service. This is a part time position of 20 hours a week. This role is essential in helping manage our patient demand safely and efficiently, ensuring patients are directed to the right care in a timely manner. You should ideally have experience working in a GP Practice or Healthcare setting, good communication skills, ability to manage workload under pressure and follow clear protocols. We offer a supportive and welcoming team environment. Training for Triage systems and internal procedures. Salary is dependent on experience.
Main Duties of the Job
- Review and process patient triage requests
- Accurately document patient information within the EMIS clinic system.
- Signpost patients to appropriate services where appropriate.
- Support GPs and the wider team with administrative tasks
- Maintain confidentiality and data protect standards at all times
- Liaise with the Duty Doctor

Key Skills and Qualifications
- Clinical Experience: Experience working in a GP surgery or customer-facing healthcare setting is generally required.
- Clinical Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with clinical systems like SystmOne or EMIS Web is often required.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively probe patients and document information accurately.
- IT Literacy: Proficient in using digital tools, online portals, and Microsoft Office.
- Attributes: Ability to remain calm under pressure, prioritize work effectively, and maintain high levels of confidentiality.
- Review incoming digital triage forms (Accurx) and telephone requests.
- Information Gathering: Contact patients to gather further, specific information regarding their symptoms, ensuring high accuracy in documentation.
- Signposting and Booking: Directly book appointments for patients with the appropriate clinician (GP, Nurse, Pharmacist) or signpost to external agencies (e.g., pharmacy, dentist) based on agreed protocols.
- Workflow Prioritisation: Sort clinical correspondence, identifying urgent, routine, or 'do not attend' (DNA) notifications, and highlighting urgent clinical concerns to the duty doctor.

Essential: GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
Desirable: GPA certificate
