Bank Registered Nurse - Inpatient Unit
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a motivated Registered Nurse to join their Inpatient Unit in Chelmsford, providing specialist palliative care to patients and families. The role involves holistic assessment, symptom control, and end of life care within a multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
- Undertake in-depth holistic assessments to identify patient needs.
- Plan and coordinate care to meet identified needs.
- Work within a multi-disciplinary team providing clinical care, navigation, coordination and support.

The 10-bed unit provides holistic care for patients with malignant and non-malignant life limiting illnesses.
Job responsibilities
- Provide clinical care, navigation, coordination and support to hospice patients and their families.
- Through holistic assessment provide information, advice, psychosocial and spiritual care.
- Work in partnership with those receiving care.
- Maintain effective communication skills to deliver highly emotive information.
- Work collaboratively as part of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
- Support management in training and mentoring a multidisciplinary workforce.
- Support streamlined locality/IPU processes using quality improvement methodology.
- Support the Hospice in building strong relationships with external partners.
Person Specification
Experience
- Essential: Proven post registration experience; experience in delivery of end of life and palliative care.
- Desirable: Experience of holistic assessment, complex symptom management, MDT working, lone working.
Qualifications
- Essential: Nurse Registration; evidence of continued professional development.
- Desirable: Advanced Communications Skills Training.
Skills, Ability & Knowledge
- Essential: Proven ability of working with people and handling difficult situations; ability to work under pressure; ability to use IT systems including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office 365, SystmOne, Zoom, MS Teams; ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance; ability to motivate self and others; ability to resolve professional and ethical issues; ability to prioritise; good oral/written communication and interpersonal skills.
