Job Summary
We are the Defence Mental Health Services (DMHS) and we are searching for a professional, motivated Psychiatrist to join our encouraging and friendly team at Venning Barracks, Donnington. The DMHS work under the purview of Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC). DPHC is an inclusive and dedicated organisation working hard to provide excellent care to our entitled personnel! The role of DPHC is to provide and commission a safe, effective, and efficient healthcare service for entitled personnel contributing to the maximisation of Service personnel fit for task as agreed with the Single Services. Main Duties
- Providing a high quality, evidence-based interventions as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to provide a safe, effective and professional mental health service.
- Maintaining responsibility for the patient during the process of care including referral to other regional services.
- Working collaboratively with the patient and include family members and significant others in the patients treatment when appropriate.
- Liaising with the in-patient Consultant Psychiatrist at the Inpatient Service Provider (ISP) and attend ward rounds as required.
- Using highly developed communication skills in working with people to understand their personal and often very sensitive difficulties.

Person Specification
Essential: GMC registration with licence to practice; Member or Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists; Full GMC registration with licence to practise; CCT and on Specialist Register; Certificate of Specialist Training in General Adult or forensic Psychiatry. Desirable: Full driving licence; MSc relevant to mental health; Experience in occupational mental health, ideally in military setting; Experience in Armed Forces medical documentation.
