Senior Clinical Fellow in Neonatology

Job Summary
- Senior Clinical Fellow in Neonatology - Fixed Term (6-12 months), Nodal Point 4-5.
- Start Dates: 07/09/2026 or 01/03/2027.
- 42 hours/week, max 1:3 weekends. EWTD and new contract compliant.
Main Duties of the Job
Registrar-level posts on the Neonatal Unit, with responsibility for first- and second-line medical care of babies. Role tailored to experience: junior members provide direct care (ITU, HDU, SCBU, PNW, labour ward); senior members lead resuscitation and stabilisation of complex patients and coordinate intensive care.
About Us
The neonatal unit at Evelina London Children's Hospital (part of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]) is one of the largest level three neonatal units in London, with ~1000 admissions per year. The unit has 20 ICU, 12 HDU, and 14 SCBU/Transitional Care cots. A cardiac HDU expansion is planned for 2026. Co-located with Children's Services and Women's Health directorates, ~6500 deliveries/year. Serves local population and receives complex referrals regionally.

Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
- Essential: MBBS or equivalent primary medical qualification, Progress in Paediatric Training (MRCPCH or equivalent), GMC registration, Newborn Life Support training or equivalent.
- Desirable: Newborn Life Support instructor, Child protection training, POCUS skills training.
Other Knowledge and Skills
- Essential: Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English, understanding of audit, quality improvement and risk management.
- Desirable: Evidence of interest and experience in teaching, contribution to clinical audits or quality improvement.
Previous Clinical Experience
- Essential: Clinical training in paediatrics (general paediatrics, neonatology, paediatric subspecialties), previous experience in tertiary neonatal unit.
- Desirable: Clinical training in tertiary level neonatology at senior level, neurology, PICU/transport, cardiac/surgical intensive care.
Research
- Essential: Understanding of importance, principles and applications of clinical research.
- Desirable: Academic or research achievements (degrees, prizes, publications, presentations), GCP training.
Additional Information
- Essential: Understanding of working with children and parents, multidisciplinary team working, reflective practice and commitment to personal development.
- Desirable: Extracurricular activities relevant to paediatrics or teamwork.
