Job summary

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and proactive Practice Manager. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in ensuring the smooth running and strategic development of our busy and community focused GP practice, maintaining high standards of patient care and supporting the team to achieve organisational goals. Full support, structured handover and on-the-job training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

  • Manage the day to day running of the practice
  • Support and motivate the staff team
  • Lead on QOF, IT, CQC and NHS contractual compliance
  • Implement policies and oversee financial processes including accounts, payroll and partner drawings
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders including the PCN
  • Work with a management team comprising of two Reception Managers and a Deputy Manager

Our team consists of 6 GP partners, 3 nurses, 1 pharmacy technician, reception and administrative teams, alongside support from our Primary Care Network staff. We are a training practice with ST1/3s, F2s and student doctors on rotation.

Job responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the practice
  • Support and manage administrative and clinical staff
  • Lead on Quality and Outcomes Framework performance
  • Handle patient feedback and complaints
  • Ensure compliance with CQC and NHS contractual requirements
  • Manage HR processes including recruitment, staff development and performance
  • Oversee financial and operational processes in collaboration with partners
  • Implement policies to improve efficiency and patient experience
  • Work collaboratively with the PCN and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to strategic planning

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential:

  • A good level of education with excellent literacy and numeracy skills

Desirable:

  • A relevant degree
  • AMSPAR Level 5
  • IGPM accreditation

Experience

Essential:

  • Previous practice management or healthcare management experience
  • Strong organisational, leadership and communication skills
  • Experience in HR management
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
  • Understanding of NHS systems, policies and procedures

Desirable:

  • Experience with SystmOne clinical system
  • Ability to work independently and proactively
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and high-quality patient services
